Like Power Rangers and the VR Troopers series, Saban’s Masked Rider splices together stock footage from Black RX, as well as the films Kamen Rider ZO and Kamen Rider J, together with newly filmed footage featuring American actors.

While the series was originally commissioned as a spin-off of Power Rangers, Masked Rider was later reformatted to sever links with its sister series due to the declining popularity of Power Rangers at the time.

Despite so, the Masked Rider comic released by Marvel did feature the Rangers as supporting characters, while Issue 18 of Go Go Power RangersIcon-crosswiki.png features King Lexian as part of the wider Ranger multiverse established by Boom! StudiosIcon-crosswiki.png.

On May 7, 2010, the show’s copyrights were transferred from BVS International to SCG Power Rangers.
